Product Details
From RS Pro a range of high-quality Cast acrylic solid plastic sheets available in a range of sizes and thicknesses.
Solid plastic sheets are sheets of strong durable plastic or plastic like materials which are cut to size and sold in a wide range of sizes and thickness. These hard plastic sheets, once purchased, can then be cut or machined into components for the fabrication of products for use in a wide range of industries. Different plastics have different properties which lend them for use in specific applications
Acrylic also known as polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) is a clear engineering thermoplastic which is often used as a glass substitute. This type of plastic is more flexible, lighter and stronger than glass with a higher impact strength. It is also safer as it does not shatter into small pieces like glass. This also reduces damage to goods in transit saving costs. Acrylic plastic sheeting is also easy to work with and can be curved and formed into a variety of shapes and configurations using laser cutting and machining
Cast acrylic is poured into prepared moulds, and unlike the extruded version of this plastic the sheet retains its physical property in all directions. This results in the plastic maintaining its desired shape in the long term without sagging or cracking. Cast acrylic is of a higher quality than extruded acrylic with a harder surface as well as a better optical clarity. Cast acrylic also has greater thermal stability so it can be machined without melting and a higher resistance to solvents. This plastic sheet is thermo-formable which means it can be reworked hot. The only downside is that it has a less consistent sheet thickness than the extruded version
This clear cast acrylic plastic sheet with its unique properties and ease of use is suitable for use in a wide range of industries including the following;
Cast acrylic solid plastic sheet is useful for more demanding applications requiring high light transmission and transparency and is often used as a glass replacement. Its excellent weather proof properties, strength and impact resistance make it ideal for use in both indoor and outdoor applications. Applications include the following;
